Fundraising Tips Fundraising can be tough sometimes, but there are many great ways that you can raise money without tapping out your friends and family. - Start off by making a donation to yourself. This shows your dedication and commitment to the cause
- Start early! Pledge forms are available online here
- Be informed -- know what the cause is and where the money is going
- Have a goal in mind --how much do you want to raise?
- Direct potential sponsors to the website -- people donate up to 3x more online than in person.
- Send out an email with a direct link to the sponsorship page. You are taking the guess work and searching out for your potential donors.
- Add a blurb and link to your email signature -- you never know who is paying attention
- Some employers match what their employees raise for charitable events. See if your company will do something similar.
- Be creative -- organize a BBQ, car wash, yard sale, bake sale
- Place a jar or envelope in your work common area where your coworkers can drop off change at their convenience -- you'd be surprised at how much can accumulate
- Start a Facebook group to spread the word
- Send out updates letting your network know how much you have raised and how much further you have to go to reach your goal
- After the event, remember to personally thank everyone that contributed. This is a great way to lay the foundation for next year
Overall, think outside the box and be creative. Also, be sure to let everyone you know that you are fundraising. It's really not as hard as you think it is! |
